4997 km. is a book about a voyage in car from Beijing to Lhasa. In September 2007, 13 members of el Grupo Tragaluz and I picked up four cars in Beijing. Their responsibility was to meet the next group in Lhasa in two weeks time. I was to photograph their journey; the people and landscapes, the hardships and the wonderful moments they went through. The voyage took us through mainland China, into the Sichuan border of Tibet with China (normally closed to foreigners) into eastern Tibet and finally Lhasa. It was an intese, beautiful and enriching experience that I documented and finally put down in a book thanks to the help of the team at RUN Design and Tomas Tarruella from Grupo Tragaluz.
BEST BOOK, PREMIOS LAUS 2009***
